According to "drsharongalor.wordpress" is the following...

Positives
1. Sense of intimacy: Expression of emotion involves revealing part of the self. It enables the development of emotional ties with others and the ability to let others get to know our real selves. Expression of emotions can build relationships as others also become more comfortable sharing themselves with you.

2. A deeper sense of understanding: Putting emotions into words allows a deeper understanding of the meaning behind the emotional states. The capacity to recognize what one is feeling provides the ability to choose a suitable behavior. Experience of emotion motivates the individual to act in a certain way that will maintain the presence of the effect or will change it.

Negatives
1. Mental exhaustion.
Suppressing an emotion can involve suppressing the memory of something that has made you uncomfortable. However, you cannot actually forget a memory on purpose, so in order to avoid thinking about something you do not want to remember, your mind will work overtime.

2. Stomach problems/ Unhealthy
According to research from Harvard Medical School, the stress that comes from unacknowledged emotions can lead to slow digestion, gas, bloating, vomiting, and ulcers.

POSITIVE:
Feel less alone and know your true self- through speaking aloud and being heard and understood with acceptance and empathy you break out of your isolation. You get to know yourself in a deeper, more meaningful way and you can gain self- knowledge.

Clarify what you feel and take action- talking out loud helps you to clarify what is worrying you.

NEGATIVE:
Suppressed emotion- puts stress on your body. People who avoid or suppress emotions are more likely to experience highly anxiety and depression in their lifetime.

According to Academia
1. positive
Communication: Talking with someone about your feelings is critical in keeping your communication open. When you discuss your feelings, you let other people know exactly where you stand without the worry of interpretation or bottled-up feelings. Open communication improves your relationships and strengthens the bonds between friends. If you are honest about your feelings, your partner should always be able to understand where you're coming from.

.Emotional Health: Expressing your feelings keeps you emotionally healthy. Storing your feelings away or bottling them up can lead to higher stress levels. if you are upset about something but are not discussing it, people may think that you are being rude or passive-aggressive. When you are open and honest about your feelings, you may find it's easier to let things go and you feel better in the long run. Tucking your feelings away can lead to major problems down the line.

2.negative
. Unintended Consequences: You must always weigh the potential consequences of expressing your emotions. As an example, if something one of your co-workers does annoy you, sharing that emotion may cause permanent damage in your relationship with that person.

.Over Sharing: When you discuss your feelings, you are sharing an intimate part of yourself with another person. This expression may not always be appropriate depending on who you share them with.
